Explain the difference between finding the square root and squaring a number. Provide real world example(s) of where you would find an application of exponents and roots.
Squaring a number is when you multiply a number by itself. Finding a square root number is when you start with a base number and find a number that when multiplied by itself gives you that same base number. Using exponents can save you time and space, if you need to write a very large or a very small number. For example if you need to write 100,000,000 you could just write 10^8 instead.
Finding the square root of a number is the inverse operation of squaring a number. The square of a number is that number times itself. Whereas the square root of a number is a value that, when multiplied by itself, gives the number. You can find exponents while working with computers. Exponents can describe a computers memory. For example, 1 gig of RAM means that you have 1*10^9 bytes. You could find roots while searching for an apartment, they may tell you how big the area is by saying its 400 square feet so you know by taking the square root that it must be 20 foot by 20 foot.
Square Roots are the opposite of Squaring a Number. The Square Root is a value that can be multiplied by itself to give the original number. Squaring a Number is multiplying by itself. A real world example is when you need to plant a garden. If you have 144 square yards to plant your garden and need a fence around it. Square root of 144 is 12. For the Fence is 12(4)=48 yards of fence.
Squaring a number is a number multiply by itself & Square root of a number is a number that is multiplied by itself to gives the number. A real world example is finding square root & squaring a number when you are finding a place for your furniture is to find the side length of a square, like area of 225 square meters it would be √225 = 15 meters and 15^2 = 225.
When squaring a number, you are finding out what number times itself will equal that number. And when finding the square root of a number is an inversed operation of finding the square of that number. A real world example would be when you want to buying property. The seller said the property would be 20,000 sqft. You would be able to figure out the property length and width by square rooting 20,000^ which would equal 141.42 which would give you the perimeter of the property for fencing.
